This will be my main tool until I can buy a 1DS Mark III for a reasonable price.
The 7D combines the build quality and autofocus mechanism of the 1D/1DS series with the ergonomics and speed of the prosumer line. Add in 1080p HD video, live view, Nikon-like smart controls and on-body external flash control and you have a winning combination.
The 7D is a crop sensor compared to my 5D's full frame so I will lose a bit of the dreamy DOF and the wide angle of my 24-70L and 17-40L lenses.
