After reading, researching and trying out several lenses I decided to purchase the baby 70-200 as it fits my current needs best.
The lens is revered because it is light, well made, insanely sharp and fast focusing. It will be my action and portrait lens. If I find that I need IS or an extra stop (to F/2.8) then I can always sell the lens and upgrade as I got it for a pretty amazing price.
