On Sunday the wedding party had to leave the Villas and go our separate ways. Some went to Rome, Grace and I took a train with Richard and Corbin from Montevarchi to Florence. Grace and I started our 3 day stay in Florence by checking into the Hotel Carolus, which was just north of the main part of the city. A short cab ride from the Firenze SMN station and we were there.
We spent the day exploring Firenze on foot. Grace got us tickets to the Uffizi Gallery, a famous art center in the heart of Florence. There was no photography allowed inside the museum, but there were several sculpture replicas in the Piazza (the real David statue is at the Academia). Penis was plentiful on the sculptures. We were able to view the Birth of Venus in person, which was an amazing experience. After more exploring we hung out near/on the Ponte Vecchio bridge. The bridge is famous because when the Nazis retreated from Italy they decided not to destroy the bridge due to its beauty. There are several gold and jewelry merchants that line the bridge.
We took Corbin's advice and had dinner at Cafe Zaza near the market. It was so delicious, and was a great first meal in Florence.
