On Monday we left Florence for half the day to visit Pisa. Pisa is located west of Florence and is easily accessed by train. An hour ride on Trenitalia and we were there. The walk to the leaning tower and Duomo was about 20 minutes.
Once we got to the tower we were both surprised with how much the tower leaned. Everyone at the monument/tower area was posing like they were holding the tower up. Grace and I posed for pictures, but I also took some pictures of random people doing it. We walked around for a little bit and had a short lunch. I noticed an artist drawing a pretty young lady, so I decided to take a snap of it.
We walk around the area for a little bit and it started to get really, really hot. The duomo and cathedral were the other major sights of Pisa, and lucky for us they were right next to the tower. After some souvenir shopping we started the long walk back to the train station and boarded a train back to Florence.
We arrived at Florence and just started walking around. We both craved McDonalds, so we stopped b the one we found near our hotel. After we ate we returned to our hotel for a nap. After we rested we walked toward the city center and grabbed some dinner in the Uffizi area.
After dinner we walked around perusing the shops (Louis Vuitton and Gucci) and the huge leather goods market at San Lorenzo. We bought several leather items for our parents and some other souvenirs. With bags of stuff in our hands we walked north back towards our hotel, along the way we stumbled on an outdoor desert/cafe spot. There we had the best gelato and tiramisu of our lives, in the moonlit plaza in front of the Duomo/Cathedral.
