Ben is changing.

So it's been about 18 months since I changed the oil on the M5.  I only drove 2000 miles or so in that time period, so the mileage was OK.  However, I like to change the oil at least once a year.

The M5's S62 engine uses the Castrol TWS Motorsport 10W-60 full synthetic racing oil.  This oil costs $10.65 A LITER.   The M5 needs 8 liters of this liquid gold.  By desgin the V8 "burns/consumes" at least a quart of this expensive stuff every 1000 miles so this car needs a lot of attention regarding its lubricant.

The good part about changing the oil on most modern BMWs is that the oil filter element is located on the topside of the engine.  This makes the oil change procedure a breeze and a lot less messy.
